Crescent House is an app publisher specializing in reprints of rare and obscure illustrations from the golden age of hand-coloured plate books, 1750 to 1900. Each app features a collection of scarce engravings and explanatory captions from books long-buried in libraries and museums. Our first app features colorful hummingbirds from William Jardine's "Natural History of Humming-Birds," one of the first books dedicated to these tiny shimmering tropical birds from 1833. Forthcoming apps will feature selections of beautiful and unique images from rare volumes on natural history, costume, design, Pompeii, erotica, children's books and many more.
